Fried Zucchini Flowers

INGREDIENTS

10 zucchini flowers

1/2 cup flour

Pinch of salt

Pinch of black pepper

Pinch of garlic powder

Dash of cayenne pepper

1 large egg -beaten

2 tbsp salted butter


TOPPING

Salt and black pepper


DIRECTIONS

- Prepare the zucchini flowers by removing the long stem that's on the inside of the flowers. Set aside the zucchini flowers.

- Mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and the cayenne pepper.

- Put the beaten egg in a separate bowl.

- One by one, lightly coat a zucchini flower with egg and then coat with flour.

- Melt the butter in a large pan on medium heat so the bottom of the pan is coated with melted butter. Add a little more butter if needed.

- Place the zucchini flowers in the pan in a single layer.

- Fry both sides of the zucchini flowers until golden brown, reducing the heat a little if needed.

- Remove the zucchini flowers from the pan and place them on paper towels.

- Sprinkle a little salt and black pepper on top of the flowers and serve hot.


Note: Don't cut the flowers that are attached to zucchinis. Only cut the flowers that are not attached to zucchinis.
